Young female patient, smoker was referred to the clinic with bleeding gums and severe pain. She had developed sensitivity to cold and could not use her toothbrush because of pain when brushing. Diagnosis was Acute Ulcerative Necrotizing Periodontitis (ANUP)

Treatment began immediately by introducing appropriate oral hygiene measures and procedures. Antibiotics were prescribed  and local inflammatory factors were controlled. Teeth were scaled using Ultrasonic Scaler and Nd:YAg laser was used to disinfect the area. The next set of photos shows the response within one week. The final set shows the patient’s condition 6 months after the treatment. We can note a full rebound of the interdental papilla between the UR canine and lateral incisor and marked improvement around the lower incisors
